Where they were stuck.

Urban Company had a 3.4 App Store rating with the most common complaint being a confusing booking experience. Their booking flow had 7 steps before a user could confirm a service, required manual address entry every time and did not surface real time professional availability until step 6. Drop off between step 1 and completion was sitting at 71%.

The approach

What we did about it.

We rebuilt the booking flow in React Native reducing it from 7 steps to 3. Saved addresses were surfaced immediately on step 1, real time professional availability was shown on step 2 and payment was handled via saved UPI or card on step 3. We also rebuilt the home screen with personalised service recommendations based on booking history and introduced push notifications for booking reminders with a one tap reschedule option.

The outcome

What changed.

Booking completion rate improved from 29% to 67%. Average time to complete a booking dropped from 4 minutes 20 seconds to 1 minute 45 seconds. Total bookings grew 38% in the 75 days post launch. App Store rating climbed from 3.4 to 4.1 within six weeks of the new version going live.
